SNES stands for Super Nintendo Entertainment System, which is a 16-bit gaming console. With the emergence of the Windows Vista, SNES compatibility is one thing many people are looking for. You can stop looking any further as Snes9x is compatible with the Windows Vista. It is a cross-platform emulator for the SNES and is the by product of some real hard work by Gary Henderson (snes96) and Jeremy Koot (snes97). The Snes9x has capabilities and features that were lacking in its earlier version like Super Nintendo and Super Famicom. This SNES Windows Vista compatible emulator uses different anti-aliasing schemes to make the screen appearance smooth and gives a high quality sound output. Some of the other features of this SNES emulator include:

* It can record a game or save it from where you left off or at any given point in the game.
* The game can be played back by using a Winamp Plugin like the Alpha II SPC player.
* There is a built in Game Genie that will let you or any player enter their cheat codes for the game.
* The Snes9x is written in portable C++ and hence it can be easily compiled to run on non-x86 architectures.

Let’s look at some of things, it can emulate like:

*
1. The 65c816 main CPU
2. SNES variable length machine cycles
3. 32×64, 64×32, 32×32, and 64×64 screen tile sizes
4. Fixed colour blending effects
5. SNES palette changes during frame and much more…

It is open source software and can be downloaded from the Internet.

If you are a student this is an important little bit of information. Blackboard is the name of a program that allows students, teachers, and colleges to communicate easily and safely together. In some cases, your grade will depend on weather or not you receive certain information through this program so it must be functional.

The problem seems to be that the announcement feature does not work like it’s supposed to. This means that if are experiencing this problem, you will not be able to compose any kind of a message. This can be critical when a student tries to contact a teacher or when a teacher tries to broadcast an assignment to his/her students.

To remedy this problem a variety of solutions have been published. This problem actually has multiple culprits so I will be going beyond Vista related solutions as well as solutions that are just precautionary measures.

Disable the Microsoft WYSIWYG editor

1) Log into blackboard using your states portal

2) Select the “personal information” button from the tools on the left of all blackboard screens

3) Select, “set text editor options” and choose,”Unavailable” under Set Availability.

This should do the trick. You should now be able to work blackboard fine.

Changing your Browsing History

This is to make sure your settings are saved in your computer

1) Click on “tools” and select, “internet options”

2) Click on the, “General” tab and click, “settings”

3) In “temporary internet files” click the radio button that says, “every time I visit a webpage”

Now you have successfully changed the WYSIWYG editor which stands for, “what you see is what you get”. Basically, it is a code based program that allows you to change font and size without having to hand code everything. Apparently a problem arose with this program. Changing your browsing History will allow you to keep the changed settings so you won’t have a problem until blackboard is updated.

The Problem

You just installed Microsoft Vista and you decide it’s time to open Yahoo messenger and send and instant message to a friend but it won’t work! This is not only a problem for you, it is a problem for all Yahoo! messenger users. Since one computer uses Vista and the user of the other computer users XP, the messenger does not work. Sadly, there is no updated version out at the present, but there is one in the works, and boy, does it sound amazing!

Problem With Yahoo! Voice

In addition to the messenger not working, other features of the messenger, for example, the voice feature that allows you to have a speaking conversation with another user, also does not work. The reason for this problem is the same as the reason for the chat messenger not working as well.

New Features Of Yahoo! Messenger

Some of the new features of Yahoo! messenger will include new stunning graphics that will correspond with Vistas graphics. You will see amazing new emoticons that really look more like people instead of cartoons. That’s not a huge improvement but it gets better. In addition, you will also be able to change the look and feel of your messenger to compliment your desktop. This really doesn’t effect me, but it may bother others who think there messenger “clashes” with there outfits.

For those with interests, the new version will group your friends in your Yahoo interests. This way, you will know all the interests of all the new people you meet allowing you to talk more fluently. this feature will surely improve the conversations of people who are afraid to talk about things that may not be of any interest to the other. Now you can finally discuss the fiscal policy of the United States with that girl you just met seeing that she is grouped in the politics area.

Another great little added feature is one that allows you to add all your contacts from Windows Live to your Yahoo contact list. This will allow you to IM all your friends using one messenger. (I guess this is a way to capitalize on the instant messenger business and drive people away from Windows live…but shhh…don’t let them know to your new found knowledge…just go with it.)

Finally, the other new features allow you to organize your conversations better through new drag and drop tab features. Also, the new Yahoo! Messenger sidebar tool will allow you to better see who is online and ready to talk.

Although Yahoo! messenger is not ready yet, you can look forward to a new version coming out. This version is better than the one your using now. If you don’t have Vista and are not considering making the change, you may not have to because I’m sure Yahoo! will come out with a version for XP users as well.

One of the visitors to this site left a comment the other day stating that he had problems visiting certain sites. I noticed this problem has occurred to others on my daily forum and research routines. Some users are unable to reach vital websites that are important to work and school. According to a variety of sources, the problem could be because the type of sites being accessed are secure (SSL - Secure Sockets Layer ) sites. For individuals with this access problem, I did a little research and found a few answers.

Basically, from what I have read, this inability to access certain websites stems from the security measures that Vista comes with. All it takes is a little tweak of a few options and the problem should be solved.
The following is one step by step solution to this problem:
1. Go to “tools” in the Internet explorer or firefox. (I don’t think it matters)
2. Go to the sub category “Internet options” (This is only in Internet explorer - for firefox, you must go to “options” at the bottom.)
3. Now, go to advanced (IE) and uncheck, “use TLS 1.0″ ( For firefox, you don’t have to go to “advanced, you can see the box there.)

This is the basic rundown of what must be done. If you have this problem, there is a chance the above steps may not help you with your problem. That’s okay because you may have a very similar problem in which the sites you are viewing are set to only allow SSLv3 enabled explorers. The steps to solve this problem are the same as the above except this time you check the SSLv2 box.

Similarly, if a site you visit frequently is not displaying anymore, it may be because the site has not updated the configurations yet and has not changed from SSlv3. When Microsoft updated Internet Explorer to version 7, they changed the settings from SSlv2 to 3 in an act to make surfing the web safer. All you need to know is how you can change the settings on your explorer. I hope, your problems are solved.

If you have any personal problem that is related or not… please feel free to leave the comment. If you surf through the site, you will see that I try to answer everyones questions with well researched and experienced answers.

As we all know, computer technology changes rapidly. For this reason, we all will run to the nearest shop to get a new computer when our machines become obsolete. No matter what financial status you have, you will not be exempt from taking part in this ritual. Sadly, if you’re on a tight budget, you have to consider the decision of buying a new computer because it will have a greater effect on you economically. Since Vista was released, many people are presently deciding to purchase a new computer because the operating system is out and they need to upgrade anyway.

It’s time to look at vital information for anyone who is in this situation and wonders if Vista is a reason to make the upgrade today. It’s all around the news that Vista has its problems. For example, if you use certain wireless adapters you might be stuck with a computer that can’t be connected to the internet because a patch or update has not been released yet. Many “experts” warn against purchasing a computer with Vista because it has many bugs and compatibility problems. It is advised by the “experts” that everyone should hold off on the switch from XP until an updated version comes out. In addition, many say that Vista takes up entirely too much memory and computer processing capacity. However, this dilemma can be void for anyone who decides to buy a new computer with Vista already installed because it will have enough RAM and other components that are made perfectly for running Vista.

Glitter and graphics are boasted by all who have seen and experienced Microsoft Vista. This is the main attraction of the software. These features are only in the Home Premium edition of Vista while the basic version has only a few features of which the most optically exciting are not present. Buying the software from a store and upgrading a current machine would mean a smaller price tag for purchasing the basic addition. Luckily for anyone buying a whole new machine, they get to experience everything Microsoft has to offer since they usually come with Home Premium installed. Other features also shine through when Vista is spoken about such as new entertainment features and improvements on games. With any operating system, improvements are inevitable and Vista is no exception.

Now that the information is laid out in a simple format, a decision can be made. Depending on your situation, you can choose to buy a new computer now and have Vista installed or, you can wait and have an updated version included. Actually, some people are saying that Vista will be like the forgotten Windows ME which left as fast as it came in. These days, nobody can wait for the outcome of new technology. If you run an old machine begging to be upgraded, by all means do so; but, if you can wait for the update exercise a little patience. If you are too impulsive, remember computers don’t come cheap to all and you may regret it later. On the other hand, if you can afford the expense; by all means go for the upgrade, have fun, and enjoy.

- This is a very common question among people who are not computer wizes. The basic reasoning behind is the fact that it will cost more than $150 no matter where you go. If you acquire it illegally, you know you will get into some trouble when you have bugs that can’t be blamed on Microsoft. Weighing all the factors involved in installing Vista, you can tell for yourself, if you really need to upgrade.

First, you have to analyze your computer. Do you know if all your hardware can run with Vista? Have the providers of the hardware come up with a new driver that will allow it to work properly? If you don’t know the answer to that, then you might want to think twice before making the leap. If you do know that everything will work fine, then by all means, go for it. One neat tool that Microsoft devised allows you to check if your system will run Vista. The URl is, http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/windowsvista
Download the software and see if your machine will run on Vista.

Secondly, you have to ask yourself, what you use your computer for. Basically, if all you do is serf the web and type reports, then sure, you can get Vista. This is basically up to you. There are not too many new features that require anyone to get it. Vista does not come equipped with a new standard of any available program on the market.

Some of the really interesting features are visual. The transparent windows, cool graphics, and new icons. Also, there are some features that can be useful for people in business like the collaborative desktop sharing. This allows up to 10 computers to share a single space. You can work together on a project for school or work and so forth. Still, if you own a business, then you still might want to hold off on the upgrade because you might risk crashes and other bugs which could hurt productivity.

The choice is all up to you now. It all depends on your computer and what you do with it. If your computer can handle the operating system, go for the upgrade and see all the visuals and other great features added. If you are not so excited about the new features that stick with what you have until they come out with a more stable version in about 6 months to a year.
